GET UP STAND UP

In Year 9, at a pivotal moment in our students education, we explore the power of art as a means of bringing about change and spreading a message. The focus is on the Art of Protest, with students making Banners to promote a cause close to their heart. We then embark on an ambitious collaborative journey to create monuments for today, life size cardboard cutouts of fictional indivuals students want to celebrate, inspired by Lubaina Himids naming the money installation. This allows students to learn about a collective History, injustices and inequalities, and how art can heal and improve present day injustices. Whether our students decide to take GCSE or not, this is a year of art that ensures every individual understands their powerful voice and important role they can play in society.
